1992 Topps #918 Darrin Chapin

Darrin Chapin appeared in 4 MLB games, 3 in 1991 for the New York Yankees, and 1 in 1992 for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Chapin only got 2 major-issue trading cards, a 1992 Donruss card, and a 1992 Topps Debut card. He is still missing his 1993 Topps card, and surprisingly, I did a quick google search, and the blog The Phillies Room actually has a photo of Darrin in a Phillies uniform, so I'll be able to complete his career Topps run when I work on the 1993 Topps set.

I just finished the NL teams on the 1997 Topps checklist, and did the first 2 in the AL. Hopefully I can get a couple more done on Tuesday when I am off, and give me a nice push to help me finish the rest of the checklist before the end of the year.

Thanks for checking out my latest 1992 Topps custom.

1992 Topps #917 Terry Bross

Terry Bross pitched in the Majors for 2 years, in 1991 with the New York Mets, and 1993 with the San Francisco Giants. He finished his career with a 0-0 record and a 3.00 ERA. He currently works as a sports agent.

Bross didn't appear on any regular Topps issues, but got a decent amount of cards for a guy who only appeared in 10 Big League games. Major issue cards include 1990 Bowman, 1990 Donruss, 1991 Donruss Rated Rookie, 1992 Fleer, 1992 Score Rookie Prospects, 1992 Topps Debut, and a 1992 Upper Deck card. It's kind of surprising that with all the love Donruss gave Bross that he didn't appear in the 1992 set. Many players in the '92 Topps set that I've made have appeared in the 1992 Donruss or 1992 Score set, a few had some in the '92 Fleer set, and probably the least got 1992 Upper Deck cards. Terry is missing cards from the 1992 and 1994 Topps sets, and his career Topps run is now complete with the 1992 Topps card I made and the 1994 Topps card I made for that set.
Thanks for checking out my latest 1992 Topps custom.

1992 Topps #916 Bret Saberhagen Season Highlights

Today's card is the first Season Highlight card in my set. Bret Saberhagen achieved many things during his career, including a World Series win, a Cy Young Award, and winning 20 games in a season. On August 26, 1991, he achieved the one thing he was missing, a no-hitter.

For this card, I kind of combined an All-Star card and a Draft Pick card. The back was basically a Record Breaker card.

There will be a few more Season Highlights cards in my 1992 Topps custom set, including another one coming up in the next few cards.

Thanks for checking out my latest card.

1992 Topps #915 Luis Medina

Luis Medina played for the Cleveland Indians in 1988, 1989, and 1991. He hit 28 Home Runs in the Minors in 1988, and hit 6 in 16 games with the Tribe that year. He was supposed to be a slugging first baseman for them, but didn't really get much more of a shot, playing 30 games with them in 1989, spending 1990 in the minors (hitting 18 Home Runs), and got 5 final games with the Indians in '91.

He got in the 1989 Topps set, and that was his only Topps card. Luis is missing cards from only the '90 Topps set, now that I made his 1992 card.

It's been really busy at my household. My son had his first birthday a few days ago and we had his party on Saturday, work is crazy because of the holidays, and I'm going with my wife to her doctors appointment tomorrow. I've have been going a little slower on the custom cards, but I have finished the 2000 Topps checklist, the 1988 Topps checklist, and finished the first team in the 1997 Topps set, which would be the final set that needs a checklist. Hoping with a little luck I can finish it before the end of the year.

Thanks for checking out the latest card in my set.

1992 Topps #914 Chris Howard

Chris Howard played 3 seasons in the Majors, in 1991, 1993, and 1994, all for the Seattle Mariners. Not to be confused with Chris Howard the pitcher, this Chris Howard came up around the same time as the pitcher, but I would say probably was remembered more, since he was on a 1994 Topps Prospects card, one that he shared with red-hot Carlos Delgado. The only Topps card the pitcher got was a 1994 Topps Traded card, and a 1995 Topps regular version. Back to the catcher and the guy in this post, Chris the catcher is missing a 1992 and 1995 Topps card to complete his career Topps run. He is only missing his '95 card with his /92 card finished.

Alot has been going on at my other blog. I finished the 1983 Topps regular and Traded set. The 1998 Topps checklist is finished, and the 2000 checklist is only 8 teams away from being finished, and I added checklist pages for all of the ones I have worked on (1983, 1986-2017). Some aren't finished, but I hope it can be a good reference for custom card makers to use that will give them a good idea of who needs cards in sets, as well as give them the templates needed to make most of them.

Thanks for checking out my latest post.
