1992 Topps #946 Tony Castillo

Tony Castillo played in the Major Leagues from 1988 to 1998, with a season spent in the minors in 1992. He came up with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1988, played part of 1989 with them until being traded to the Atlanta Braves with future playoff hero Francisco Cabrera. He spent 1990 with the Braves, and was traded to the New York Mets in 1991 for Alejandro Pena. He signed with the Detroit Tigers for 1992, spending all of it in the minors. 1993 found him back in Toronto, and he spent 1994, 1995, and most of 1996 with them until being traded to the Chicago White Sox. The last 2 years of his career (1997 and 1998) were spent with the Pale Hose.

Tony got his first Topps card in the 1990 set. His next card would come in the 1991 set, and he would be out of the Topps radar until his final Topps card, in the 1996 set. Tony is missing a slew of cards, those being from the 1988 Topps Traded, 1989 Topps, 1989 Topps Traded, 1991 Topps Traded, 1993 Topps Traded, 1994 Topps, 1995 Topps, 1996 Topps Traded, 1997 Topps, 1998 Topps, and a 1998 Topps sunset card.
In addition to the 1992 Topps custom, I also have created customs for Tony's 1994 and 1998 Topps cards.

I am dangerously close to finishing all of the missing player checklists from every Topps regular set ever made. Just 2/3 of the 2018 set and all of 2019 to go. Once that is finished, I will go back and update the Traded sets. After that, customs, baby!

Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #917 Terry Bross

Terry Bross pitched in the Majors for 2 years, in 1991 with the New York Mets, and 1993 with the San Francisco Giants. He finished his career with a 0-0 record and a 3.00 ERA. He currently works as a sports agent.

Bross didn't appear on any regular Topps issues, but got a decent amount of cards for a guy who only appeared in 10 Big League games. Major issue cards include 1990 Bowman, 1990 Donruss, 1991 Donruss Rated Rookie, 1992 Fleer, 1992 Score Rookie Prospects, 1992 Topps Debut, and a 1992 Upper Deck card. It's kind of surprising that with all the love Donruss gave Bross that he didn't appear in the 1992 set. Many players in the '92 Topps set that I've made have appeared in the 1992 Donruss or 1992 Score set, a few had some in the '92 Fleer set, and probably the least got 1992 Upper Deck cards. Terry is missing cards from the 1992 and 1994 Topps sets, and his career Topps run is now complete with the 1992 Topps card I made and the 1994 Topps card I made for that set.
Thanks for checking out my latest 1992 Topps custom.

1992 Topps #907 Julio Valera

Julio Valera pitched for 5 years in the Majors. He played for the New York Mets in 1990 and 1991, the California Angels in 1992 and 1993, and the Kansas City Royals in 1996.
\
Julio appeared in a few Topps sets during his time in the Bigs. He got his first Topps card in the 1991 set, he was in the 1992 Topps Traded set (pictured as an Angel), and got his final Topps card in the 1993 set. He is missing cards from the 1994 and 1997 Topps sets to complete his career Topps run. I decided to give Julio a regular 1992 Topps card since he didn't get a card picturing him with his 1991 team in the 1992 Topps/Traded sets.

I got a bunch of 1994 Topps cards done today, mainly consisting of highlight/random subset cards. I also found a Wrigley Field giveaway version of a 2001 Topps Hee Seop Choi card that was intriguing to me. He was featured in the regular 2001 Topps set on a 3-player prospects card, but for the Wrigley version, it has the basic prospects design on it, but only features Choi on the card. It looks really sweet, so I made a template of it, and added it to the 2001 Topps page, as well as adding some more names to the checklist to use the prospects template with. I'll try to work on the 1999 checklist a little later tonight as well. I should have some time tomorrow night to work on customs, so hopefully I'll knock out some more cards and checklists.  Thanks for taking the time to check out my latest '92 custom.

1992 Topps Rich Sauveur

Rich Sauveur pitched sporadically in the Majors from 1986-2000. He first made the Bigs in 1986 with the Pirates, then in 1988 with the Expos. The Mets called him up in 1991, and he played with the Royals in 1992. In 1996 he played for the White Sox, and he finished out his career by pitching for the Athletics in 2000.

He only appeared on 1 Topps card, and it was technically not even in a regular set, but an insert set. In 1993, Topps inserted 1 ToppsGold card into each pack. The ToppsGold cards were the same as regular 1993 Topps cards with a gold nameplate instead of a regular one. Each of the 825 cards in the '93 set had a ToppsGold card. With 6 checklists in the set, Topps chose to instead make a gold card of a player who didn't have a regular '93 Topps card to replace the checklist. Sauveur was one of the 6 gold checklist replacements in the '93 set.

I couldn't find any photos of Rich in a Mets uni, so I just got this minor league photo from a card and put the Mets logo on the hat.

Thanks for checking out the latest card in my set.

Errors and Omissions

I don't know how I stumbled upon it, but the other day, I came upon a picture of Nick Esasky's 1992 O-Pee-Chee card, and realized that I somehow didn't include him in my '92 Topps set. I decided to go 1 by 1 through the '92 OPC set and make sure I didn't skip anyone else. While doing so, I realized that I missed John Dopson as well. I also saw that Jim Schaefer had a '92 OPC card (I had used another photo to create his '92 card. I decided to leave the Shaefer card as is.
Then, while I was organizing my binders the other day, I realized that I had made Tony Castillo's '92 card as an Atlanta Brave when he really finished the '91 season as a New York Met, so I made a corrected version of that card.
I believe with these 3 corrections that the 1992 Topps set is now complete, and stands at 1366 cards.
Eventually I will get back to working on the backs of the cards, maybe once the craziness of the holidays subsides. Thanks for checking out my blog, and if you see any more cards I forgot or need to change let me know.

1992 Topps Blaine Beatty

Blaine Beatty was a pretty big prospect for the New York Mets in the early '90's. He came over from the Baltimore Orioles in 1987, and won double-digits in the minors in '88 and '89. He made the Majors in 1989, but unfortunately, was injured in 1990. He came back, and made it back to the Mets in 1991, but that would be his last year in the Bigs. Blaine appeared on the 1990 Topps Debut set, and didn't recieve any cards in a regular Topps set during his career.

I have finally got the templates for all 26 teams done, and have had a little fun doing the fronts for the next 10 cards or so (now comes the hard part, the backs). Just a little heads-up for anyone who is interested, I would love to have help with this project, even it's small, so if you are interested in contributing to making customs for my 1992 Topps project (even if it's just doing the fronts), I would love the help, and would give you credit for any work that's yours. If you happen to think you would be interested, let me know and leave me a comment.

Thanks as always for checking out my blog
