1992 Topps #921 Doug Glanville Draft Pick

Doug Glanville spent a good deal of time in the Majors, and gained notoriety for his intelligence, and currently writes for the New York Times and ESPN. He made it to the Majors in 1996 with the Chicago Cubs, and played for them until the end of the 1997 season. He played for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1998 to 2002. He split 2003 with the Texas Rangers and Cubs, and finished his career in 2004 with Phillies.

Doug got his first Topps card in the 1995 set, on an On Deck card that he shared with Darron Cox. He was left off of the 1997 set, but then got into the 1998 through 2005 Topps sets to finish his career Topps run. Doug is just missing a card in the 1997 Topps set to finish his career Topps run. I will probably make it and post it on my other blog to finish his career Topps run.

Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #920 Tom Herr

Tom Herr put up a decent career in the Bigs from 1979-1991. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1979 through the middle of the '88 season, winning a World Series in 1982 with them. He was traded to the Minnesota Twins in the middle of the 1988 season, and finished the season with them. He played for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1989, and split 1990 with the Phillies and New York Mets. He played his last season in the Majors, 1991, with the Mets and the San Francisco Giants.

Tom got a Topps card in every set from 1980 to 1991. He is only missing a card in the 1992 set to finish his career Topps run. This '92 Topps custom I made finishes his career Topps run.

I have finished the 1986 Topps checklist (much thanks to Paul for doing the research), as well as the templates, which finishes the checklist and templates for every Topps set from 1986-2001. I am hard at work at my 2020 Topps Archives Lost Cards checklist, as well as making customs in the '98 Topps set. You can expect some fun cards in 2018. Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #919 Denny Martinez Season Highlights

Today's card is the 2nd Season Highlights subset card in my custom 1992 Topps set. Denny Martinez pitched a perfect game against the Dodgers in 1991, and only got a regular card and an All-Star card in the 1992 Topps set. Most other card companies, like Donruss, Fleer, Score, and I believe Upper Deck, all gave him a card commemorating the perfecto. This is actually an error card, as I left out an 'm' in the word 'game' in the 2nd sentence. It would've been cool pulling a card like this out of a pack in 1992. Too bad Topps didn't make any.

I have finished the 1997 Topps checklist, and have been working a little on making customs for a few projects. I am currently working on the 1998 set, doing some replacement player Pirates in the 1994 Topps Traded Update set (thanks to Gene Collier from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette for helping me get a complete roster!), and I am back at work trying to create a checklist for a fantasy 2020 Topps Archives: The Lost Cards set, which will feature missing Topps cards from different Topps sets in a set similar to the original Topps Archives ones.  Stay tuned for more on that on my other blog.

Life will be pretty crazy in the coming weeks, and I probably won't do a post before the new year, so have a Merry Christmas (or whatever holiday you do or don't celebrate) and a Happy New Year!  Thanks for checking out my latest post.
