1992 Topps #944 Francisco de la Rosa

Francisco de la Rosa got in to 2 games in 1991 for the Baltimore Orioles, which was the extent of his Major League Career.

He only appeared in 2 major issue sets, 1992 Topps Stadium Club, and 1992 Topps Major League Debut. He is just missing a card from the 1991 Topps Traded set.

Not much about this player or about his career. He pitched from 1985-1995 professionally, and with his 2 games in the Majors, he has 2 more than most of us can ever say. Now, he has a card in the 1992 Topps set.

Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #937 Roy Smith

Roy Smith pitched in the Major Leagues from 1984 to 1991. He played with the Cleveland Indians in 1984 and 1985, he played for the Minnesota Twins from 1985 to 1990, and spend his final year in MLB with the Baltimore Orioles in 1991. He was on the 1987 Minnesota Twins World Championshp team. After retiring, he worked as a scout, assistant general manager, and vice president for scouting and player development.
Roy got his first Topps card in the 1985 Topps set. He got into the 1986 set, but went missing from the 1988 and 1989 sets. His last 2 Topps cards came in the 1990 and 1991 Topps sets, leaving him a missing 1992 Topps sunset card, which I made.  He technically also needs a 1986 Topps Traded and 1991 Topps Traded card with the missing 1987 and 1988 regular Topps cards to complete his career Topps run.
It's been a while since I updated this site, but I hope to keep doing a monthly 1992 Topps card, and maybe eventually finish in 2073.
Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #893 Jeff McKnight

Today's card is of the late Jeff McKnight. Jeff came up to the Bigs with the Mets in 1989, played for the Orioles for 1990 and 1991, and he came back to the Mets for 1992-1994.

Jeff appeared only in the 1991 and 1994 Topps sets. He was missing from the 1990, 1992, 1993, and 1995 sets. He got a 1990 Topps debut set as well. This Topps custom would've been Jeff's last Orioles card.

A few days ago, I finished the official checklist for the 2016 Topps set, just in time for the 2017 set to be released. I plan on getting a few packs whenever I can and I'll probably post about them on my other blog. I hope everyone does well with their first 2017 packs.

Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #871 Shane Turner

Today's card is probably the one that gave me the most trouble to make. Before I get to that, here's the lowdown on Shane Turner.
Shane made his MLB debut in 1988 with the Phillies. He got back into the Majors in 1991 with the O's, and played one final season with the Mariners in 1992.
Shane only has 1 regular Topps issue, his 1993 card. He is missing a 1989 and 1992 card to complete his career Topps run, and this 1992 custom only leaves his '89 card left. Turner didn't have that many cards issued during his career, only an '89 Fleer, '92 Donruss The Rookies, '92 Fleer Update, '93 Fleer, '93 Stadium Club, and the previously mentioned '93 Topps card.
Since Shane only played 4 games for the Orioles, I had a heck of a time trying to find a photo of him wearing an Orioles uniform. Nothing on a Google image search, nothing on any of his cards, I even went so far as to search YouTube for a video of any of the games he played in and came up empty. The closest thing I could find was an image of him in his Rochester uniform on a minor league card that I tried to photoshop an Oriols cap on, and you can see how that turned out. I'm not proud of this card, but it is all I have so far. If you have any ideas of how to fix it or how to find a photo of him in an Orioles uniform, please let me know.
Thank for checking out my latest custom.

A preview of coach cards

Here is a sampling of what the coaches cards will look like in my set. Most teams have 5 coaches, a few have 4, some have 6. For the ones with 4, I will leave out the Draft Picks, for ones with 6, I will include a list of all the teams' Hall of Famers. I really wish Topps would've included coaches in their sets. Coaches rarely ever get cards, and they are some of the most reliable autograph signers through the mail and at the ballpark.

1992 Topps Stacy Jones

Stacy Jones made his first Major League pitch with the Baltimore Orioles in 1991, but didn't get a regular Topps card. He appeared on cardboard in 1992 with Score (card # 832), as well as Fleer, who made a card of him and fellow Auburn Tigers Gregg Olson, Frank Thomas, and Bo Jackson (card # 701). Being an Auburn fan (WAR EAGLE!), I decided to give him a card in the first part of my set. Stacy appeared on the 1992 Topps Debut set released later in 1992 (card # 94).
