1992 Topps #954 Jorge Pedre

Jorge Pedre spent 2 seasons in MLB, 1991 and 1992. He played with the Kansas City Royals in 1991, and the Chicago Cubs in 1992.

I have just finished making 2 of Pedre's cards recently, as he was in the last part of my 1993 Topps set, and the first part of my 1992 Topps Traded set. Since the 1991 Topps Traded card was the only one he was missing to complete his career Topps run, I created it to give you every Topps card of Pedre.

So there you have Jorge's 1991 Topps Traded, 1992 Topps (front), 1992 Topps (back), 1992 Topps Traded (front), 1992 Topps Traded (back), and 1993 Topps cards.

Jorge didn't appear in very many mainstream issues. While appearing on a few minor league issues, Jorge only had a 1992 Topps Debut and 1992 Score card. These 4 Topps issues will add to that.

I'm slowly working away at the 1992 Topps Traded set, and have finished the Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Cubs team sets. Hopefully that will come along more quickly.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my latest post.

1992 Topps #927 Steve Crawford

Steve Crawford pitched in the Majors from 1980 through 1991. He came up in 1980 with the Boston Red Sox, and was with them from 1980 through 1987. He spent the 1983 season in the minors. In 1988, he was in the minors with the Los Angeles Dodgers system, and then spent the last 3 years of his career with the Kansas City Royals in 1989, 1990, and 1991.

Steve got his first Topps card in the 1982 Topps set, and got into every Topps set from 1983 through 1988, only not getting into the 1984 set because he spent 1983 in the minors. He was in the minors in 1988, so no 1989 Topps card, and he was left out of the 1990 Topps set. He got his final Topps card in the 1991 set, and was left off of every major brand set in 1992 besides Score. This 1992 Topps custom would've been Steve's sunset card. Steve is now only missing cards from the 1981 and 1990 Topps sets, and perhaps a 1980 Topps rookie stars card with maybe Wade Boggs???

Thanks for checking out my lastest post.

1992 Topps #916 Bret Saberhagen Season Highlights

Today's card is the first Season Highlight card in my set. Bret Saberhagen achieved many things during his career, including a World Series win, a Cy Young Award, and winning 20 games in a season. On August 26, 1991, he achieved the one thing he was missing, a no-hitter.

For this card, I kind of combined an All-Star card and a Draft Pick card. The back was basically a Record Breaker card.

There will be a few more Season Highlights cards in my 1992 Topps custom set, including another one coming up in the next few cards.

Thanks for checking out my latest card.

1992 Topps #899 Stu Cole

The last card in the 800 numbers in the 1992 Topps set belongs to Stu Cole. Stu played in the Majors for only 1 year, in 1991 with the Kansas City Royals.  Stu is the 3rd base coach of the Colorado Rockies, and has been so since the 2013 season.

Stu never received a card in a regular Topps issue, and only has cards in the 1992 Stadium Club and Topps Debut sets. This '92 Topps custom compeletes his career Topps run as a player. It is also an error card, as I erroneously listed him as a pitcher and not a 2nd baseman. Stu needs cards from the 2014-2018 Topps sets to complete his career Topps run as a coach.

I got my order from COMC in, and I am going to write a post about that on my other blog. I also want to put links to checklists for the 1989-2001 Topps sets on this blog.  With that, and some things I am doing with Detroit Tigers customs, making checklists for the 1996 Topps set, and trying to print some cards, I think I'll be busy for a while. Thanks for checking out my latest custom.

1992 Topps Paul Zuvella

Paul Zuvella was a utility Infielder in the Bigs from 1982-1991. He only appeared in the 1986 and 1987 Topps sets. Another case of Topps not putting utility guys in their sets.

This card was a little tricky to make. I couldn't find any pictures of him in a Royals uniform, but there is a '90 Pro Cards card of him with an Omaha Royals uniform on him, so I used that photo and then just pasted a KC logo on the cap. While searching for a photo of him in a Royals uni, I came across a site that lists all the Royals players of all-time, and it said that it couldn't even find a photo of him with the Royals. Like my Terry Puhl card earlier in the set, I think it turned out pretty nice and gives a Royals photo to a player that I can't find any for the life of me.

Thanks for checking out the latest card in my set.

1992 Topps Dave Clark

Dave Clark was primarily a pinch hitter and reserve outfielder from 1986-1998. He appeared on Topps cards from 1988-1991, and then again in 1994 (Traded) and 1995. He missed out on a good number of cards due to his role as a reserve, but he probably could've made an argument to get in the 1987 set after his rookie season. He also could've perhaps been placed in the '93 Traded set as well. Topps made Traded sets during the last 2 years he appeared on cards, but stopped after 1995, then didn't start again until 1999 after he retired. Perhaps I will try to make Dave's 1993 and 1996-1999 cards in the future, and maybe some coach cards if I can find photos. Dave coached for a while in the Astros (even managing them in late 2009), and is currently a coach for the Tigers.

Clark didn't get into many games in 1991 (only 11), so it's easy to see why he didn't get a '92 Topps card. He somehow managed to get into the '92 Score set, and he may have the record for fewest '92 cards from other brands out of guys in my set. I couldn't even find another good photo of him as a Royal, so I had to use the one on his Score card.

A few cards in the 1992 Topps set have players or bats or balls covering up part of the Topps logo (I believe Nolan Ryan and Bill Gullickson were some), so I did that with Clark's bat on this card just to pay homage to a small detail in the set that only a true '92 Topps fan would pick up on.

I'm off later today, so I should have the chance to work on backs. Currently, I'm done with the Royals coaches, so that puts me around card 1175 I believe. I counted and including some backs to cards I've done later in the set, I only have 152 more to go to complete the set. I should be able to knock that number lower in the coming days. The end is so close I can smell it.
Thanks for checking out my latest card.

1992 Topps Archi Corbin

Card #832 in my custom 1992 Topps set is Archi Corbin. Archi spent 3 years in the Majors, playing for the Royals in 1991, the Orioles in 1996, and the Marlins in 1999. The only Topps cards he ever appeared on were in 1992, on the Stadium Club and Major League Debut set. He missed out on the '92 Topps set, as well as the '97 and '00 Topps sets. Although he spent the majority of his career in the Royals' system, his photo on Baseball Reference shows him with the Orioles. If I could find a photo of him in a Marlins uni, I could finish out his career Topps cards.

Archi put up some decent numbers in the Minors, posting ERAs under 3 twice before getting called up to Kansas City in '91. He bounced around between the Royals, Expos, and Pirates systems from '92-'95, before putting up a 4.74 ERA in '96 with Rochester and getting called up to the Orioles for 18 games in '96. He got his only 2 Major League Wins that year. He played for Rochester in '97, then it was on to the Padres organization for '98. He was traded to Florida midway through the season, and was called up to the Marlins in late '99, pitching in his last 17 Major League games. In 2000, he was back with the Royals farm system, going to the White Sox during the season. He stayed in the Minors with Chicago again for 2001, and then spent the 2002-2003 with Nashua in the Independant League. He stayed in the same league in his final season, playing for Atlantic City in 2004.

I have Archi's 1992 Donruss card in my card collection, and if I ever get around to finishing all the backs to this set, I will try to print them and have his '92 Topps card to go along with it.

While making some backs today, I found another card I am missing: Mike LaCoss. I have made his card, and he will hopefully finish the set at 1367 cards. I figured I would probably miss a few players, but I've seemed to have missed like 10 San Francisco Giants, as well as about 5 players who appeared on the '92 O-Pee-Chee set, and a random player or two I just overlooked. With all the research I'm doing, though, I think I should manage to catch anyone who tries to fall through the cracks. Speaking of backs, I finished the back to card #900, which means there are 468 cards left in the set that need backs.

Thanks for checking out the latest project on my set.

1992 Topps Terry Puhl

Well, I figured it would happen sometime, and it finally did. While looking for a photo of Terry Puhl in a Kansas City Royals uniform, I was unable to find one, and had to try to crop a Royals uni and paste it on poor Terry. I used an old Fleer card of Terry, and pasted a Royals uniform from a George Brett card on it. It looks a little rough, but it's better than a photo of Terry in an Astros or Mets uniform with the caption "Now with Royals" on it. Terry's last Topps card was in 1990. Here is his missing 1992 card.
