1992 Topps #913 Chris George

Chris George played 2 games in the Majors, both in 1992 for the Brewers. He gave up 2 runs in 6 innings for a 3.00 ERA with a 0-0 record.

Chris missed out on a 1992 Topps card, but strangely, appeared in the 1993 Topps set, even though he didn't pitch in the Majors in 1992 or 1993. This 1992 Topps custom completes George's career Topps run.

I have finished the 1983 Topps regular set since my last post, and along with the 1992 Topps set and 1994 Topps set, it marks the 3rd Topps set I have completed. I am also finishing the 1983 Topps Traded set to go along with it for use in the upcoming ARAIG Baseball League in February that will play out the 1983 season. Once the Traded set is complete, it will basically complete the 1984 Topps set, since anyone who played in 1983 will have a card picturing them with their correct team. After that, I'll probably work on some checklists (1998, 2000, 1997, 1988 and 1986), and then probably try to complete the 1998 Topps set. I hope sometime this next year to have every checklist finished (along with the templates), and then to start knocking customs off of my lists.

1992 Topps #912 John Russell

It's been awhile, but here is the next card in my custom 1992 Topps set, #912, John Russell. John came up to the Majors in 1984 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and stayed with them until the 1989 season. In 1989, he played with the Atlanta Braves, then finished out his career with the Texas Rangers from 1990-1993.  After his career, John coached with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2003-2005, was their manager from 2008-2010, and has been a coach for the Baltimore Orioles from 2011 to now.

John got his first Topps card in the 1986 set. He got into the 1987 and 1988 set, and was left off of the 1989 and 1990 regular set. He appeared in the 1990 Traded set as a Brave, and got his final Topps card in the 1991 set. He is missing cards from the 1985 set, the 1989 and 1990 set, and 1992-1994 sets as a player. He is missing coach or manager cards from the 2004-2006, 2009-2018 sets (unless Topps somehow surprises me and adds coach cards to the '18 set. This 1992 Topps custom takes one card off of the list. Recently, I completed the 1994 Topps set, and that means John also has his sunset card done. Here is his final Topps card as a player.

I've been working on the 1983 Topps set lately at my other blog, and have finished the checklist and am a little over 1/3 of the way done with the set. I also am working on finishing the '97, '98, and '00 checklists, and once that is done, I am going to try to make ones for the '86-'88 sets. I also have been posting on the Facebook custom cards page, which has really turned out to be something great.

1992 Topps #911 Alan Mills

Alan Mills pitched in the Majors from 1990-2001. He played for the New York Yankees from 1990-1991. From 1992-1998, he pitched for the Baltimore Orioles. He was with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1999 through the middle of 2000. He was traded back to the Orioles, and pitched with them from the rest of 2000, through 2001 when he retired. This year, Alan became the pitching coach for the Orioles.

Alan first appeared on a Topps card in the 1990 Topps Traded set. He got into the 1991 Topps set, and was left off of the 1992 set. He had cards in the 1993 and 1994 Topps sets, and was left off of Topps sets from 1995 through what would've been his final Topps card in 2002. Alan will also probably need a 2018 Topps card since Topps hasn't made manager/coach cards in years.

1992 Topps #910 Dave Rohde

Dave Rohde played for 3 years in the Majors. He came up in 1990 with the Houston Astros, played with them in 1991, and spent one final year in the Bigs with the Cleveland Indians in 1992. 

Dave only had 1 Topps card, a 1991 Topps rookie. All he needs is a 1993 Topps sunset card to complete his career Topps run.

1992 Topps #909 Mickey Weston

It has been a long time since I posted a new card, but here is the latest card in my custom 1992 Topps set, #909 Mickey Weston. I originally had him listed as a Baltimore Oriole in my checklist, so the first front I made for the card looked like this.

Glad I caught the mix up.

Mickey played in the Majors from 1989-1993. He came up in 1989 with the Baltimore Orioles, played with them in 1990, before going over to the Toronto Blue Jays for 1991. He played for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1992, and the New York Mets in 1993 for his final season.

Mickey only got 1 Topps card, in the 1990 set. He only appeared on 4 major issues in his career besides the Topps card, a 1990 O-Pee-Chee card, a 1990 Score, a 1990 Topps Debut card, and a 1990 Upper Deck card. Upper Deck actually listed him as "Jamie Weston" before issuing a corrected version of the card. You would think he would've got into the 1990 Bowman set, but I guess we'll never know why he didn't. Mickey is missing cards from the 1991, 1993, and 1994 Topps cards to complete his career Topps run. I am currently working on the 1994 Topps set, and here is the Mickey Weston card I made for it.

1992 Topps #908 Mario Diaz

It has been forever since I've posted a new card, so here's the latest 1992 Topps custom I've made. Mario Diaz played in the Majors from 1987-1995.  He played for the Seattle Mariners from 1987-1989, the New York Mets in 1990, the Texas Rangers from 1991-1993, and the Florida Marlins in 1994 and 1995.

Mario's first Topps card came in the 1989 set. He got in the 1990 set, and that was it as far as Topps cards. He is missing cards from the 1988, 1991, and 1993-1996 Topps sets to complete his career Topps run. I have been trying to work on New York Mets customs for a project lately, and I have actually made Mario's 1991 Topps card.

1992 Topps #907 Julio Valera

Julio Valera pitched for 5 years in the Majors. He played for the New York Mets in 1990 and 1991, the California Angels in 1992 and 1993, and the Kansas City Royals in 1996.

Julio appeared in a few Topps sets during his time in the Bigs. He got his first Topps card in the 1991 set, he was in the 1992 Topps Traded set (pictured as an Angel), and got his final Topps card in the 1993 set. He is missing cards from the 1994 and 1997 Topps sets to complete his career Topps run. I decided to give Julio a regular 1992 Topps card since he didn't get a card picturing him with his 1991 team in the 1992 Topps/Traded sets.

I got a bunch of 1994 Topps cards done today, mainly consisting of highlight/random subset cards. I also found a Wrigley Field giveaway version of a 2001 Topps Hee Seop Choi card that was intriguing to me. He was featured in the regular 2001 Topps set on a 3-player prospects card, but for the Wrigley version, it has the basic prospects design on it, but only features Choi on the card. It looks really sweet, so I made a template of it, and added it to the 2001 Topps page, as well as adding some more names to the checklist to use the prospects template with. I'll try to work on the 1999 checklist a little later tonight as well. I should have some time tomorrow night to work on customs, so hopefully I'll knock out some more cards and checklists.  Thanks for taking the time to check out my latest '92 custom.
