1992 Topps #934 Doug Strange

Doug Strange played in the Majors from 1989-1998. He came up with the Detroit Tigers in 1989, spent 1990 in the minors, and got back into the Bigs with the Chicago Cubs in 1991. He played with them in 1992, and spent 1993 and 1994 with the Texas Rangers. For 1995 and 1996, he played with the Seattle Mariners, then he spent 1997 with the Montreal Expos before finishing his career in 1998 with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Doug's first Topps card came in the 1989 Topps set. He is missing a card in the 1992 set, which I fixed. He got in the 1994 set, and then is missing cards for the rest of his career. I made him a 1998 Topps card as an Expo, and Mark from Battlin' Bucs gave him a 1998 Topps Traded card as a Pirate.

On my other blog, I have been working on finishing the 1984 Topps and 1984 Topps Traded sets.  I have finished the Traded set, and am done with the NL in the regular set, as well as the Orioles and Red Sox. That leaves about 10 teams to go (the checklists says a little less than 200 cards, but a number have been done, so I think it's closer to 150 or less). I hope to finish that in a few months. I finished the 1982 Topps checklist, and am working on the 1981 checklist, bringing me steps closer to having missing player checklists from every set from 1978 to 2001. Eventually, I will work my way down through the '70's and '60's and down to 1951. Patience. Patience.
Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #933 John Orton

John Orton played in the Majors from 1989-1993 with the California Angels. He only appeared on 1 Topps card, coming in the 1991 Topps set. He is missing cards from the 1990, 1992, 1993, and 1994 Topps sets. This card crosses off the '92 card, and I also made his 1994 Topps card while finishing that set.
As for the '92 card, John was left off of the 1992 Topps set, but got a card in the 1992 O-Pee-Chee set, which is the same design as the '92 Topps set, just with the OPC logo. O-Pee-Chee would always choose not to copy the All-Star and Record Breaker cards for their sets, instead choosing to add more Montreal Expos, Toronto Blue Jays, and random other players in their spots. Orton got a card in the '92 OPC set because of this, so all I had to do to make his card was to take off the OPC logo, and add a Topps one. The back was a little difficult, but I think I did ok.

It has been a long while since I've posted on this blog, but having a 2-year old can take up most of your time. Probably since my last post here, I have finished the 1998 Topps set, started working on the 1984 Topps/Topps Traded sets, added a few checklists for '70's sets on my other blog, as well as start the 1993 Topps set until the '84 Topps set came up with a deadline of February. I will still keep posting on here every now and then, so check back, and you never know, you could see a new card up.

Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #932 Kevin Ritz

Kevin Ritz played in the Majors from 1989 through 1992, and 1994 through 1998. He played for the Detroit Tigers during the first peroid, didn't play anywhere in 1993 (perhaps he was injured), and then played for the Colorado Rockies during his second period in the Majors.
He got his first Topps card in the 1990 set, missed the 1991 and 1992 set, got in the '93 set as a Rockie, was in the 1995 Topps Traded set, and got in the 1997 Topps set. He is missing cards from the 1991, 1996, 1998, and 1999 Topps sets. Technically, he is also missing a 1993 Topps card showing him as a Tiger, so I made him one. I also got his 1998 Topps done.

I have got a ton of cards in the '98 set done lately, and now am about 250 cards away from finishing the set. I might just finish it before the end of the year. Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #931 Kenny Williams

Kenny Williams played in the Majors from 1986-1991. He played for the Chicago White Sox from 1986-1988, spent the entire 1989 season with the Detroit Tigers, split 1990 with the Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays, and spent his final season in 1991 with the Blue Jays and Montreal Expos.  After his MLB career, he got involved in scouting, and eventually the front office, becoming the Chicago White Sox GM in 2000, and putting together the 2005 Chicago White Sox World Championship team.

Kenny first appeared on a Topps card in the 1988 set, got into the 1989 set and 1989 Traded sets, had a 1990 Topps card, and a 1991 Topps card. This 1992 Topps card covers his sunset card, and a 1987 Topps rookie card is now the only one he is missing.

I haven't posted much, and I probably will stick to this snail's pace of posting for a while, but keep checking back, I will eventually get through the whole 1992 Topps set, even if it takes me the rest of my life.

Thanks for checking out my latest card.

1992 Topps #930 Dave Anderson

Dave Anderson played in the Majors from 1983-1992. He spent 1983 through 1989 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, played 1990 and 1991 with the San Francisco Giants, and came back to the Dodgers for his final season in 1992. After his playing career, he spent 2009 through 2013 as a coach for the Texas Rangers.

Dave appeared on Topps cards for most of his career, getting into the 1984 through 1991 Topps sets. He is missing a 1983 Topps Traded, 1990 Topps Traded, 1992 Topps Traded, 1993 Topps card to complete his career Topps run for his playing days. As for coach cards, he is missing cards from the 2010 through 2014 Topps sets. I have covered a few of the missing cards from his playing days, making his 1983 Topps Traded rookie, and 1993 Topps sunset card.

I am close to finishing off the National League in the 1998 Topps set. Just have the Cardinals, Padres, and Giants to go (almost exactly 100 cards). Then on to the AL. Hopefully I can get it done by the end of the year, but I'm not making any promises. Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #929 Daryl Irvine

Daryl Irvine pitched in the Majors from 1990 to 1992 with the Boston Red Sox, going 4-5 with a 5.68 ERA.

Daryl got a rookie card with the 1991 Topps set, and that was it for him. He is now just missing a 1993 Topps card to complete his career Topps run.

Sorry about such a quick post, but this week has been a little crazy, today is a little crazy, but I hope to perhaps get some time to do a post or two in the coming week. Thank you for taking the time to read my latest post.

1992 Topps #928 Gino Minutelli

Gino Minutelli pitched for 3 seasons in the Majors. He spent 1990 and 1991 with the Cincinnati Reds, and 1993 with the San Francisco Giants.

Gino never got any Topps cards in regular sets, but was in 1991 Bowman, 1991 Topps Debut, and 1992 Stadium Club sets. He is, however, one of the few players whom I have completed their Topps run for by making multiple cards. I made his 1991 Topps card as part of my project to give the 1990 World Champion Cincinnati Reds a 1991 Topps card, I have his 1992 Topps card as part of this project, and did his 1994 Topps card when completing the 1994 set. Here are his 1991 and 1994 Topps cards to complete his Topps run.
