1992 Topps #902 Ron Witmeyer

Ron Witmeyer played season in the Majors, in 1991, for the Oakland Athletics. He got 1 hit, a single, in 19 At-Bats. He currently is Owner/Director of Instruction at Frozen Ropes, a baseball instruction academy in San Diego, California. I emailed Ron a link to this post, so maybe he will see it.

Ron appeared in just 2 major sets, a 1992 Stadium Club card, and a 1992 Topps debut card, along with a dozen minor league issues. I also have Witmeyer listed as a replacement player for the 1995 Oakland A's, so I will be making a 1994 Topps Traded Update card to finish out his career Topps run.

I haven't had time to post much or do many customs, but I think I might find a little time this week. I am doing a little work on the 1999 Topps checklist, and I kind of want to see how it compares to the rest of them. I remember watching a ton of baseball in 1998, and even thought I don't have very much at all of the 1999 Topps set, I have a feeling that I will recognize player names in the 1998 set the most. I'm also hoping to make a few more customs of the Netherlands for the WBC set that we have going on at the Facebook Custom Card Group. You should join if you are into making customs or just enjoy viewing them. Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #901 Calvin Jones

Calvin Jones only pitched 2 years in the Majors, 1991 and 1992, both for the Mariners. He was the Mariners first round pick in the 1984 MLB Draft, and he picked up 5 Wins during his career.

Calvin only got 1 Topps card, a 1993 Topps card picturing him with the Colorado Rockies. He was selected by them in the 1992 Expansion Draft, but never got called up to Colorado. He is missing only a 1993 Topps card picturing him with the Mariners to complete his career Topps run now that this 1992 Topps custom rookie is complete.

I worked on a few WBC customs today, covering every game that the Netherlands team has played so far. I would love to see a Netherlands/USA final, and would probably actually pull slightly for the Netherlands since both sets of grandparents were born there.  There are a few of us on the Facebook Custom Card Group who are making WBC customs, so feel free to check them out.  I'll probably work a little more on the 1996 Topps set later tonight (customs and checklist), and perhaps some more WBC cards.  Thanks for checking out my latest post.

1992 Topps #900 Cory Snyder

Today's card is the 3rd superstar number card in my set, following #800 Dave Parker (another Blue Jay), and #850 Mike Scott.  Cory Snyder played in the Majors from 1986-1994. He played for the Cleveland Indians from 1986-1990. He split 1991 with the Chicago White Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays. 1992 was spent with the San Francisco Giants, and he played for the Los Angeles Dodgers in his final 2 MLB seasons, 1993 and 1994.

Cory was part of the 1985 Topps USA baseball team subset, which was his rookie card. He appeared in the 1987-1991 Topps regular sets. He was in the 1991 Traded and 1992 Traded sets, then got a card in the 1993 and 1994 regular editions. Cory was left out of the 1992 regular and 1995 regular Topps sets. His career Topps run is complete now that I made this 1992 Topps custom, as well as his 1995 Topps sunset card that I will post on my other blog once it comes up.

I've done a little work on checklists today, even though it probably won't be noticed. Michael from the custom card group on Facebook has been doing some World Series highlight cards, so I thought I would make sure I have World Series highlight cards for every game, as well as some season highlight cards in every set that I have done so far. I've completed every set through 1996, and updated the checklist cards for every set that I have completed checklists for (1989-1993). I would like to add stadium cards and team photo cards for every set, but besides having to find a ton of team photos that probably don't exist, I really don't want to fix checklist cards for 5 sets. I might add them for the 1995-2000 sets. Tomorrow, I will try to work on completing the 1996 checklist. Thanks for checking out my latest card.

1992 Topps #899 Stu Cole

The last card in the 800 numbers in the 1992 Topps set belongs to Stu Cole. Stu played in the Majors for only 1 year, in 1991 with the Kansas City Royals.  Stu is the 3rd base coach of the Colorado Rockies, and has been so since the 2013 season.

Stu never received a card in a regular Topps issue, and only has cards in the 1992 Stadium Club and Topps Debut sets. This '92 Topps custom compeletes his career Topps run as a player. It is also an error card, as I erroneously listed him as a pitcher and not a 2nd baseman. Stu needs cards from the 2014-2018 Topps sets to complete his career Topps run as a coach.

I got my order from COMC in, and I am going to write a post about that on my other blog. I also want to put links to checklists for the 1989-2001 Topps sets on this blog.  With that, and some things I am doing with Detroit Tigers customs, making checklists for the 1996 Topps set, and trying to print some cards, I think I'll be busy for a while. Thanks for checking out my latest custom.
