Rich Sauveur pitched sporadically in the Majors from 1986-2000. He first made the Bigs in 1986 with the Pirates, then in 1988 with the Expos. The Mets called him up in 1991, and he played with the Royals in 1992. In 1996 he played for the White Sox, and he finished out his career by pitching for the Athletics in 2000.
He only appeared on 1 Topps card, and it was technically not even in a regular set, but an insert set. In 1993, Topps inserted 1 ToppsGold card into each pack. The ToppsGold cards were the same as regular 1993 Topps cards with a gold nameplate instead of a regular one. Each of the 825 cards in the '93 set had a ToppsGold card. With 6 checklists in the set, Topps chose to instead make a gold card of a player who didn't have a regular '93 Topps card to replace the checklist. Sauveur was one of the 6 gold checklist replacements in the '93 set.
I couldn't find any photos of Rich in a Mets uni, so I just got this minor league photo from a card and put the Mets logo on the hat.
Thanks for checking out the latest card in my set.

My set ends at 792 your card is 862 what's up with that
ReplyDeleteSince it is a continuation of the 1992 Topps set that features players left off of it, I decided to start the numbering at 793. The final card in the set after I added all of the missing players is card number 1367.
