Fronts, Cards #857-875
Got up to card #875 finished today. Only 17 more cards, and I will have added 100 to the set. Some ones that gave me trouble today were the Danny Heep and the Shane Turner. I could only find 1 photo of Danny Heep in an Atlanta Braves uniform, and it was very small, so it came out all grainy when I enlarged it. Shane Turner didn't have any cards or photos showing him in a Baltimore Orioles uniform. I found a card with him in a minor league uniform that had similar colors to the Orioles ones, and had to cut a hat off of a Brady Anderson card and paste it onto Turner. As you can probably tell, it didn't work that well. I know I will probably have more problems like this in the set, but hopefully it won't happen too much.
On the bright side, a few players like Rich Sauveur, Paul Zuvella, and Jeff Plympton were successes. Sauveur only had a few New York Mets cards, and I had to paste a Mets logo on his cap, and I think it turned out fine. I only found 1 photo of Zuvella in a Kansas City Royals uni, and it wasn't big enough to use. I did find him in a Minor League Royals uniform, so I just switched the logo on the cap, and it worked great. Plympton had a bunch of photos, and I just did a little editing on his cap to make it look like a Boston "B". I'll probably do a few more fronts tomorrow, then I'm off on Friday, so I'll do some more, and do a big post then, hopefully getting past card #900. Thanks for checking out the new cards.

Fronts, Cards #842-856
I was able to do some more fronts today, and get up to card #856. Not much when you still have to get to card #1206, but I feel as if I'm making progress on the fronts, at least, and that maybe one day in late 2015 or sometime in 2016 I will have completed at least the fronts of the set. Some of the ones I did today were pretty hard. The Dean Wilkins was in black and white, and was the only photo I could find of him in a Houston Astros uniform. I tried following a tutorial on colorizing photos on GIMP, and after trying 3 times, it still wouldn't work. I found a recoloring program that I could use for free for 30 days, and it made what you see now on the card. Not that good, but it did the job. I think I might try to re-download GIMP and try again with the decolorizing when I have some free time. I am almost done with the front of the first checklist, and hope to finish it next time I make some customs. I also might make a post of the cards together on pages, kind of like a "virtual binder". Thanks for checking out the latest cards I've done.

Fronts or backs?
I'll be the first to admit that it is more fun making the front of customs than it is making the backs. That's probably why most people only make the fronts. I decided in my custom 1992 Topps set that I would make backs for the cards just so if I ever do finish the set, that I could print the cards and put them in binders and you wouldn't be able to tell that they weren't from the 1992 Topps set. And I guess I'm a little OCD and it would just bug me that a card didn't have a back to it...
With that being said, I have currently done 29 cards (more if you inculde some of the checklists/coaches/prospect cards) front and back. I recently finished making blank templates for the fronts and backs of all 26 teams that year, as well as a Draft Pick and checklist template. I might even have a prospect one somewhere as well. I decided that it would be fun to work on nothing but fronts of cards for a while. I don't know how long I'll do so. Maybe if it goes quick enough, I will finish the whole set. I do know it's been a little harder than I thought it would. Most of the players don't have that many photos of them during their careers or from the 1991 season. For them, I have to use photos from other baseball cards (which, unfortunately, I was hoping not to have to do). A few cards, I have had to paste logos on blank caps and do a lot of uniform and background editing. Some I will probably have to colorize a photo on, and after looking at some GIMP tutorials, that will take a good amount of time, probably a few hours. I tend to treat everything like a race, and it's hard for me to enjoy the process, I like seeing the outcome, so we will see how it goes.
For now, I wanted to show you the fronts that I have done so far, and kind of give you a taste of how the set looks like as of now.
Those are cards #822-840. Hopefully you saw somebody you remember or feel should've got a card in the '92 Topps set.
1 final thing, I probably won't post them on here, but if you would like me to send you any of the blank templates I have made, leave me a comment or email me at karensjer at gmail dot com. Thanks for checking out my blog.
